JERRY SPOTTED AT SKY BAR

12/01/00

Dee Dee spotted this in Ted Casablanca's column at Eonline:

"Mariah Carey, lounging at Sky Bar on a Saturday night. Looked divine dressed in black, with a glowing complexion. Her largest accessory: a beefy bodyguard. The delish diva hung with a bunch of buddies at a table by the pool -- and actually gabbed with the commoners who dared to make contact. Even wished good luck to a dude holding his bachelor party at the swank bar. Just the kind of behavior some of the gal-pals of Jerry O'Connell should adopt. Also at the joint that night, Jerry was flanked by ladies who weren't terrifically tempting but had total 'tudes.

JERRY AND CHARLIE AT PUFFY'S PARTY

11/30/00

Here's a funny story from the New York Magazine web site.  It sounds like Jerry and his brother Charlie had a good time at Puff Daddy's White Party back in September:

September 18, 2000

Jerry O'Connell: Lord of the Dance

One final Puffy-in-the-Hamptons story for the year 2000: When the White Party finally ended at Mr. Combs's stately digs, the crowd headed to Conscience Point, where actor Taye Diggs had such a good time he neglected to retrieve his credit card from the bar at the end of the night and had to drag himself back the next day to collect it. While Diggs forgot his plastic, actor Jerry O'Connell forgot his pride. According to a witness, Jerry and his brother Charlie stupefied onlookers when they took to the dance floor and proceeded to invent a decidedly bizarre new move. "One would start running in place as fast as he could while the other held him there by grabbing onto the back of his pants," says the source. "It looked like something out of A Night at the Roxbury." The tipster tells us that stunned spectators thought the dance had to be a joke, but "they were totally serious. It went on for a good ten minutes." Well, at least the dancing duo got themselves a good workout.

Jerry is in final negotiations to star in the comedy Down and Under.  Here are some excerpts from Variety:

O'Connell on the 'Down' beat (Hollywood

Reporter - 173 words - Wed., Aug. 16, 2000)

By Zorianna Kit

Jerry O'Connell is in final negotiations to receive a seven-figure payday -- his highest yet -- to top line Castle Rock Entertainment's action comedy "Down and Under."  The film will be directed by David McNally of "Coyote Ugly" and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.  The project is scheduled to begin shooting in February. "Down" is about two childhood friends -- a highly regarded New York hairstylist (O'Connell) and a would-be musician -- who get caught up with the mob. They are forced to deliver $100,000 to Australia, but things go haywirewhen the money is lost to a wild kangaroo that then becomes their target.  Scott Rosenberg and Steve Bing wrote the script, with the most recent draft being penned by writing duo Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandell.  Jerry Bruckheimer Films' Mike Stenson and Chad Oman are executive producing the project. O'Connell, repped by WMA, is shooting Revolution Studio's comedy "Tomcats" and next stars in Destination Films' "Buying the Cow." His credits include "Mission to Mars," "Body Shots," "Scream 2" and the NBC miniseries "The '60s."

Anthony Anderson (Me, Myself & Irene) is in final negotiations to star with Jerry O'Connell in Castle Rock Entertainment's action comedy "Down and Under". The project, scheduled to begin shooting in February, will be directed by David McNally (Coyote Ugly) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Anderson would play the role of a would-be musician-"

BUYING THE COW

10/5/99

This is from the Hollywood Reporter:

O'CONNELL STAKES OUT 'COW' LEAD

Thesp to star in Destination's romantic comedy

By VANESSA TORRES

Jerry O'Connell is in final negotiations to topline Destination Films' impending-nuptial comedy, "Buying the Cow." Pic will mark the directorial debut of Walt Becker, who co-wrote the script with Peter Nelson. Destination co-head of production Brad Jenkel ushered the project in, and will serve as producer along with exec Dan Etheridge. Destination toppers Brent Baum and Steve Stabler will exec produce.

"Cow" is a romantic comedy about the transition from dating a potential spouse to actually settling down with one. O'Connell will play David, a young man whose girlfriend of five years finally demands that he make her a solid offer. Feeling backed into a corner, David hits the dating scene with a vengeance. "Cow" is being fast-tracked, with Destination solidifying an early-November start date.  Jenkel called the pic "a much funnier version of 'the ultimatum movie,' "fresh in its approach in that "the female is active in her search as well, and not just waiting for the guy to make a decision. … She starts to explore the possibilities of life without him as well." Femme lead has not yet been cast, nor has the couple's advice-spewing circle of friends.  O'Connell made his big screen debut as an awkward pre-teen in Rob Reiner's "Stand by Me." He has since appeared in "Jerry Maguire," "Scream 2" and the NBC mini "The '60s." The actor's upcoming projects include New Line's "Body Shots," and the Brian dePalma-directed "Mission To Mars," starring Tim Robbins. Upon completing work on "Buying the Cow," O'Connell will begin lensing the Brian Robbins-helmed ("Varsity Blues") "First Daughter" for New Regency. O'Connell also penned the script about the teenage daughter of the president who wants to attend college without the supervision of the secret service. O'Connell's "Cow" deal was brokered by Scott Lambert and John Fogelman of William Morris, and attorney Steve Burkow of Ziffren, Brittenham, Branca and Fischer.  Becker, who authored the novel "Link," is also working on a screenplay adaptation. Becker and Nelson were both repped by Endeavor, and Destination exec veepee of legal and business affairs, Neil Sacker, handled the deal on their behalf.
