FOUR MEN IN A CAR JUST TRY TO GET THROUGH THEIR DAY -- AND THE REST OF THEIR LIVES -- ON THE PREMIERE OF ABC'S NEW COMEDY, "CARPOOLERS," TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2
Monday, September 17, 2007 -- Life in the fast lane - the carpool lane, that is -- proves a hilarious occasion for male bonding for four guys from very different backgrounds in ABC's new Fall comedy series, "Carpoolers." These four use their commuter confessional as a way to commiserate about their jobs, their families, their hopes and their secrets, because in the carpool lane, no one can hear you scream. "Carpoolers," premieres TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network
Meet Laird (Jerry O'Connell, "Crossing Jordan"), a dentist and recent divorcé turned womanizer who was left with nothing intact but his libido. Laird's best friend, Gracen (Fred Goss, ABC's "Sons and Daughters"), is a mediator, a voice of reason, and the unofficial leader of the pack. Then there's self-sacrificing Aubrey (Jerry Minor, "Saturday Night Live"), with a brood of kids and a stay-at-home couch-potato wife, and newlywed Dougie (Tim Peper), the carpool neophyte who's willing to risk his life to save a coveted parking space for the team.
In the premiere episode, "Pilot," Gracen wonders aloud how his lovely "house flipper" wife, Leila (Faith Ford, ABC's "Hope and Faith," "Murphy Brown"), can afford to buy a $200 designer toaster and how his deadbeat son, Marmaduke (comedian T.J. Miller), who struts around the house in nothing but his jockeys and a smile, suddenly lands an internet job making more than his dad. By the end of the day, the guys have their mission: to steal back the respect Gracen deserves by any means necessary.
"Carpoolers" stars Fred Goss as Gracen Brooker, Faith Ford as Leila Brooker, Jerry Minor as Aubrey, Tim Peper as Dougie, Allison Munn as Cindy, T.J. Miller as Marmaduke Brooker and Jerry O'Connell as Laird.
Guest starring are Troy Evans as Mr. Heggie, Taylor Parks as Aubrey's daughter, Drew Matthews as Aubrey's son, Stephanie Reibel as woman, Scott Thompson as rich carpooler #1, Eddie Goins as rich carpooler #2, Irene White as Sue, Stephen T. Brophy as Ted and Andrew Cherry as Rikki.
"Pilot" was written by Bruce McCulloch and directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
Bruce McCulloch ("The Kids in The Hall") created the series and serves as executive producer and writer. Marsh McCall ("Just Shoot Me"), Anthony and Joe Russo ("Arrested Development," "You, Me and Dupree"), Justin Falvey ("Las Vegas"), Darryl Frank ("Las Vegas") and David Miner ("30 Rock") also serve as executive producers. "Carpoolers" is a production of ABC Studios. It is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format with a 5.1-channel surround sound and Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning. A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to the airdate.
This episode will be available on abc.com the day after airing on the network for users to watch online.

WEEKLY
Rebecca
Romijn and Jerry O'Connell Wed!
Saturday July 14, 2007
Ugly Betty
star Rebecca Romijn and her fiancé, Crossing Jordan star Jerry
O'Connell have tied the knot -- cowboy style.
A representative
for Romijn confirmed the marriage took place at 6 PM ET on Saturday.
The casual,
western-themed affair took place at the couple's ranch in the L.A.
suburb of Calabasas. Prior to the evening ceremony, guests were treated
to a lemonade bar and appetizers created by Savore Cuisine.
Romijn and
O'Connell exchanged vows in 100 degree heat in front of approximately
100 guests. The groom wore a khaki suit and entered with his brother,
actor Charlie O'Connell. They were soon followed by the couple's two
dogs and a gospel choir singing Foreigner's "I Want to Know What
Love Is."
The bride
followed after her own maid of honor and completed her grand entrance
in a white floor-length gown with a plunging neckline, her hair partially
down, carrying a bouquet of white flowers.
Romijn and
O'Connell exchanged vows under a big tree adorned with large white
flowers. A female officiant conducted the ceremony.
The relatively
brief ceremony ended 15 minutes later with a kiss and cheers from
the wedding guests. The couple skipped down the aisle as the gospel
choir serenaded them with Milk and Sugar's "Sunshine."
Their wedding
guests later enjoyed a barbecue reception complete with brown picnic
tables, wagon wheels, colorful hay bale seats and a large dance floor
that was placed over the couple's pool.
Romijn, 34,
and O'Connell, 33, announced their engagement in September of 2005.
This is the second marriage for Romijn, who was previously married
to Full House star John Stamos from 1998-2004. While this is a first
marriage for O'Connell, the actor was previously engaged to E! News
host Giuliana DePandi.

Romijn Weds Jerry O'Connell

Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell were married on Saturday in an
intimate ceremony in Los Angeles, Romijn's rep Lewis Kay tells PEOPLE.
Romijn, 34,
wore a Ralph Lauren gown and jewelry by Neil Lane as she and O'Connell,
33, exchanged vows in front of 100 family and friends. The couple's
two dogs Taco and Better – dressed in black bow ties – also joined
in on the festivities, running around the grounds.
"It
was a perfect celebration and Jerry and I couldn't be happier,"
Romijn tells PEOPLE.
The couple
met in the fall of 2004 when Romijn was scouting for her documentary
Wet Dreams, about choreographing the fountains at Las Vegas' Bellagio
Hotel and Casino.
"We
met Jerry at a party," Romijn told PEOPLE. "We told him
what we were doing and he was like, 'You're making a documentary out
of this? I want to be the boom operator!' He was totally game."
O'Connell
proposed to Romijn in September 2005, during a trip to New York.
This is the
first marriage for O'Connell and the second for Romijn.
Romijn currently
stars in ABC's hit comedy Ugly Betty. O'Connell will be starring in
ABC's new comedy Carpoolers this fall.

They Do!
After three
years of dating, Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell exchanged vows
during a romantic outdoor wedding at a private home in Los Angeles.
Romijn walked down the aisle in a gown by Ralph Lauren and jewels
by Neil Lane as a small group of family and friends—perched on hay
bails covered with quilts—looked on. After the ceremony—planned by
Heidi Asimus of Red25 events—guests dined on blue crab salad and lavender-grilled
prime beef tenderloin at rustic tables adorned with wildflowers and
lanterns. Instead of the traditional cake, the sweet ending included
mini country apple and red velvet cupcakes. Romijn and O'Connell began
dating in the summer of 2004.

Romijn,
O'Connell's Really Hot Nuptials
by Marcus Errico
Sat, 14 Jul 2007 09:21:14 PM PDT
With the
mercury pushing 100, one can forgive Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell
if they sweated out their vows Saturday.
The camera-ready
couple wed in an "intimate ceremony" at the Ugly Betty star's
ranch outside Los Angeles, her publicist Lewis Kay tells People.
About 100
guests braved the boiling temperatures to see the erstwhile X-Man
shape-shifter and her beau exchange "I do's" under a tree.
The wedding
party included O'Connell's actor-brother, Charlie, as well as the
couple's two dogs, according to Us Weekly.
The groom
wore a tan suit, while Romijn was sheathed in a white floor-length
Ralph Lauren gown and bejeweled in Neil Lane's finest. The newlyweds
were serenaded by a gospel choir, per Us Weekly, and the reception
featured a western theme, complete with barbecue, real wagon wheels
and hay bales.
This is the
second matrimonial go-round for Romijn, who was married to John Stamos
for six years. O'Connell, registered his first trip down the aisle,
although he was previously engaged to E! News anchor Giuliana DePandi.
Romijn, 34,
and O'Connell, 33, first met on the Vancouver set of the Ben Affleck
romantic comedy Man About Town in April 2004, just after Romijn's
split from Stamos. But they didn't begin dating until that fall, after
running into each other at a party in Las Vegas.
She finalized
her divorce from the former Full House star in March 2005; six months
later, she and O'Connell were engaged.
"We
couldn't be happier and are looking forward to the next chapter of
our lives," the obligatorily giddy couple announced at the time.
Aside from
sharing credits on the 2006 releases Man About Town and The Alibi,
both have plenty of solo success.
Romijn stars
on Ugly Betty as the transgender schemer Alexis Meade. Her next film
role is in the indie family drama Lake City with Sissy Spacek and
Drea de Matteo, due out later this year.
O'Connell,
who guested on Ugly Betty last season, is about to begin his **sixth
season as Detective Woody Hoyt on NBC's Crossing Jordan. The actor,
who first gained fame as one of the kid stars of Stand by Me in 1986,
has also voiced a role in computer-animated feature Cat Tale, which
costars Sean Astin and David Cross and is slated for a 2008 release.
(**Editorial
note by the JOC Fan Site - Crossing Jordan aired its series finale
this spring. Crossing Jordan is no longer in production)

and their spokes people did their best to keep the wedding plans under
wraps the days prior to the wedding.

deny Rebecca Romijn's wedding despite strong rumors
Sunday, July
15th 2007, 4:00 AM
Reps for
Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell went running Friday when we asked
about the couple's strongly rumored wedding. At the end of the week,
we were hearing from more than one source that Malibu nuptials would
be taking place.
But three
inquiries each to their separate spokespeople — one in Los Angeles,
the other in New York — went unanswered.
We didn't
even get the usual fig-leaf response, which is, "We don't comment
on the personal lives of our clients."
One source
said the couple had made exclusive arrangements with People and In
Style to cover the ceremonies, and that other media outlets were being
kept in the dark.
"They
didn't want the place swarming with paparazzi," says the snitch.

Goss, O'Connell, Minor join cast of ABC comedy pilot
By VARIETY STAFF
Fred Goss, Jerry O'Connell and Jerry Minor have joined the cast of
the ABC comedy pilot "Carpoolers."
It's a return
to the Alphabet for Goss, who starred in last season's critically
acclaimed but short-lived "Sons and Daughters." The casting
marks a switch for O'Connell, who has spent the last few years in
the drama world, starring in NBC's "Crossing Jordan."
As for Minor,
"Carpoolers" reps the comedian's primetime series debut.
The standup most recently appeared in HBO's "Lucky Louie,"
and he briefly appeared on "Saturday Night Live."
Pilot revolves
around a group of four men who carpool to work. Goss plays Gracen,
while O'Connell stars as dentist Laird and Minor is aboard as Aubrey.
They join previously announced cast members Faith Ford, T.J. Miller
and Allison Munn.
Laffer comes
from ABC TV Studio and DreamWorks TV. Bruce McCulloch, Justin Falvey,
Darryl Frank and David Miner are exec producers, while Anthony and
Joe Russo are directing.
In May, ABC
picked up the pilot and annouced that Carpoolers would air on Tuesdays

Premise:
Four very different men use their daily commute to bond and vent about
their lives.
First Impressions:
A large portion of this show will apparently consist of four guys
talking in a car, so the writing had better be really sharp. There
were a couple moments of spark in the clip, but it feels a little
self-consciously quirky.

"Carpoolers"
Jerry O'Connell (Crossing Jordan) headlines this buddy comedy about
guys who drive to work together each day and their home lives. Each
rider has a different back story and probably wouldn't normally share
a car. It seems as if the producers are hoping wacky people who typically
wouldn't be caught dead with each other plus cramped space equals
ratings gold.

DATE RUMOR CONTROL

Jerry recently
made an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres show which aired on January
8th. The show is typically prerecorded in advance of the air date, so
it is likely he visited the show some time during the week of January
1st. In the interview, Ellen asked Jerry if he was getting married over
the weekend, or had already gotten married over the weekend (knowing
that the show would air on Monday). Jerry told her he and Rebecca did
not have plans to get married on January 6th, that it was just an Internet
rumor. However, Ellen did ask Jerry why his parents were still be in
town if the holidays were already over! Jerry insisted that they stayed
in town because they love Ellen's show and wanted to visit back stage.
Jerry confirmed that he and Rebecca still plan to get married, but he
did not give a date.

he would not be a married man when the chat show aired, but confessed
he would wed Romijn "one of these days".

AND REBECCA SET A WEDDING DATE
12/13/06
Star Magazine
reports that according to a friend of the couple, Jerry and Rebecca

It will be an intimate gathering of roughly 20 close friends and family
members.
Here is the

EXCLUSIVE:
REBECCA ROMIJN & JERRY O'CONNELL TO MARRY - FINALLY!
After a 15-month
engagement, Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell finally agreed to hold
an intimate wedding at their ranch near L.A. on Jan. 6, friends tell
Star! The X-Men: The Last Stand star, 34, who was married to ER's
John Stamos for almost six years, convinced her two-year younger fiancé
to exchange vows at their Wagon Wheel Ranch before just 20 close friends
and family. "For Jerry, this will be his first marriage and he
wanted to make it a big deal, but Rebecca held her ground," says
a friend.
Nevertheless,
to keep the groom-to-be happy, "Rebecca agreed to let Jerry plan
a party a few weeks after the wedding where everyone can get crazy!"
adds another buddy.

JERRY
AND REBECCA'S WEDDING PLANS
Actor Jerry O'Connell tells Star that he and fiancée Rebecca
Romijn are ready to rush down the aisle any minute now. When Star
caught up with him in at a private estate in Beverly Hills on Oct.
11 for the MySpace.com benefit to for war-torn Darfur, Sudan, he revealed:
"We are going to have a small quiet wedding possibly this holiday
season!"
As for whether
he considers Rebecca a bridezilla, Jerry assured Star: "No. Not
at all. She couldn't be further from it. She is amazingly calm. However,
I am a groomzilla. I just get very nervous and I don't know exactly
what to wear and I just want everything to be right!"
And when
asked if he'd like to have a family, Jerry beamed: "Definitely.
I would love to have kids in the future."
In the meantime,
the couple already has their holidays mapped out. For Halloween, Jerry
says, "Rebecca and I are going to Universal Studios. It's haunted
and we wear masks so we don't get bothered. It's usually really scary
and we can't wait for it."
Then it's
on to Thanksgiving. "This year Rebecca's mom is going to cook,
which is good because if I were to cook, everyone would get salmonella!"
Jerry joked. "We will have a turkey and it's exciting because
Rebecca's mom is a really good cook. It's a change having a home-cooked
meal for Thanksgiving. My family is famous for getting a turkey at
Koo Koo Roo, putting it in the oven and then claiming they cooked
it themselves, even though they just re-heated it!"
And for the
end of the year, Jerry crowed: "We do a lot of lights on the
house," says Jerry. "We are very big on holiday lights!"
A few weeks
ago, Rebecca Romijn asserted that she and Jerry will be getting married
and said "There will be a wedding. It's not going to be anything
like La Dolce Vita TomKat." (Quote from nationalledger.com)

The Anti-Defamation

2006-2007 "The More You Know" campaign featuring network
celebrities as positive role models for parents, adults and young
people.
"We
know that it takes one person to make a difference in saying 'no'
to prejudice, so just imagine the potential impact when a celebrity
speaks as a role model to millions of young people and adults,"
said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "If we can change
the heart and mind of one person with these segments, or inspire people
to act against prejudice in their communities, then the effort of
reaching out is well worth it. We are delighted to continue our partnership
of more than a decade with NBC."
Ranging from
10 seconds to 30 seconds in length, the campaign's anti-prejudice
segments feature well-known TV celebrities such as Mariska Hargitay
and Christopher Meloni of Law & Order: SVU, Sarah Chalke and Donald

The "Crossing
Jordan" star (though he'll always be Vern to us) showed off his
furry Halloween costume over the weekend, dressing up as Elmo for
the annual Camp Ronald McDonald Carnival.
"I just
sweated out a glass of Hawaiian Punch I drank in fourth grade,"
a solo O'Connell told "EXTRA," "This is also my day
job, I work up at the theme park here at Universal when times are
a little hard on my boulevard."
Sadly, Rebecca
Romijn didn't show up to be Big Bird to her fiancé's Elmo (or
better yet donning Mystique's blue body paint) --she was away shooting
an indie film.

Idol'
Fever Heats Up In Hollywood

Hollywood
has "American Idol" fever. More than 30 million people are
glued to the small screen every week as the singers give it their
all. Now the show's most famous fans are giving "Extra"
their scorecard on the top nine.
"I'm
quite passionate about ‘American Idol'," revealed Jerry O'Connell,
the new Men's Fitness cover-stud. Jerry told "Extra" that
rocker Chris Daughtry is his favorite. "I vote a lot," he
said. "I'm like a 12-year-old girl: ‘Give me the phone!'"
REBECCA
AND JERRY IN THE PRESS
4/8/06
Rebecca Romijn
has recently been promoting her new television show Pepper Dennis. The
following press mentions both Jerry and Rebecca.
USA
TODAY

No sour grapes for Romijn
By William Keck, USA TODAY
CALABASAS, Calif. — If Rebecca Romijn seems generously candid, chalk
it up to her deep personal happiness and fun new role as a super-snoopy
investigative reporter in WB's Pepper Dennis (premieres Tuesday, 9
p.m. ET/PT).
Rebecca Romijn plays ambitious Chicago TV reporter Pepper Dennis in
the new WB comedy series of the same name.
WB
"I do
have more sympathy for reporters than I ever had before," acknowledges
Romijn, 33, a former supermodel who was host and reporter for MTV's
House of Style in the 1990s. "You've got to get the story, and
I totally get that."
Fresh from
a 13-hour catch-up sleep marathon, Romijn is having a breakfast of
huevos rancheros. She has arrived at a cafe near the ranch house she
shares with 32-year-old fiancé Jerry O'Connell (Crossing Jordan)
and is bursting with bright colors.
The 5-foot-11
fashion queen is dressed in a striped peach rugby shirt, gold headband
and necklace, a turquoise ring, a mammoth 6-carat yellow diamond engagement
ring, a bright orange wallet, and toenails painted with a pink hue
called "I Need a Vacation." Because her reporter character
is single, she takes off her ring during scenes and replaces it with
a set of yellow diamond earrings also given to her by O'Connell.
The 1999
Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition cover girl, who posed on the sand
alongside other top cover models for the 2006 cover, will hit the
beach again soon for a vacation in the Bahamas with O'Connell. The
previous evening, she fell asleep in his arms "around 8"
— somewhere between watching rentals of A History of Violence and
The Squid and the Whale.
She calls
O'Connell "the most solid guy. I don't know what I would do without
him."
On their
grounds are the beginnings of a winery: O'Connell followed up a romantic
getaway to California wine country by planting 800 Merlot and Cabernet
grapevines. She calls the gesture "the most romantic gift."
It's now
a favorite spot. Romijn spends weekends in the vineyard with her rocking
chair, two poodles and two German shepherds to read scripts, while
O'Connell shoots off golf balls or tends to the vines. As a nod to
the history of their home — it was a 1930s brothel called The Wagon
Wheel Ranch — they plan to eventually bottle Wagon Wheel Wine.
But also
sitting behind their home is a giant letter "D" — part of
the Disneyland sign that ex-husband John Stamos (Jake in Progress,
ER) purchased after he and Romijn had their first date at Disneyland.
She says Stamos eventually will come and collect the "D"
and the other nine letters she has in storage, but in the meantime,
she prefers to think the "D" stands for her character, Dennis.
News of her
split from Stamos after six years of marriage broke the day before
she walked the red carpet at the April 2004 premiere of her film The
Punisher. "We just got outed" by the tabloids, Romijn says.
"We had split up quite a while before, but John and I had decided
we were just going to keep it between us because we had work to do
and I didn't want to be dealing with all that.
"But
we were forced to come clean, so I put on a brave face."
Of Stamos,
she says, "We don't have a regular relationship anymore."
She's hurt by media reports that the couple split because he wanted
to start a family and she didn't. Romijn says vehemently that those
accounts are wrong. She adds, "Whether or not I wanted to have
kids had nothing to do with it. We were together for 10 years, and
the reasons (for the divorce) are complicated. I can't wait to have
kids. I'm at a point in my life where when I see a pregnant woman,
I get tears in my eyes."
She and O'Connell,
who she says shares her desire to start a family, plan to wed this
summer after she wraps up promoting her third stint as the blue-hued
Mystique in X-Men 3: The Last Stand, in theaters May 26. (She has
two other films in the can: June's The Alibi, with her X-Men co-star
James Marsden, and the upcoming Man About Town, in which she plays
the wife of Ben Affleck.)
Her wedding
will "not be a big event. I did that a long time ago. We might
do it on a vacation and include just our close family."
Oh — and
unlike what she did with her name for her previous marriage, she won't
be changing her name to Rebecca Romijn-O'Connell.
"I'm
probably just going to take the O," the actress jokes. "Rebecca
O'Romijn."

O'CONNELL
PLANTED VINEYARD FOR ROMIJN
Actor JERRY
O'CONNELL planted 800 grapevines for fiancee REBECCA ROMIJN, after
being inspired by a romantic getaway to California's wine country.
The actor followed up his visit by planting 800 Merlot and Cabernet
grapevines on the property the couple owns north of Los Angeles. Romijn
says the gesture was "the most romantic gift". The burgeoning
vineyard is now a favourite spot for the pair to spend their leisure
time. The X-MEN beauty has placed a rocking chair in the vineyard
and brings her two poodles and German shepherds with her while she
reads scripts and O'Connell shoots golf balls or tends to the vines.
The couple's home was a former brothel in the 1930s called The Wagon
Wheel Ranch and, taking into account the history of their home, they
plan to eventually bottle Wagon Wheel Wine.

Q&A Rebecca Romijn
OK, so
there's TomKat. ther's Brangelina. Now that you're engaged to Jerry
O'connell from Crossing Jordan, what's your tabloid contraction?
I don't know! But I'm pretty sure [Tom Cruise and Katie HOlmes] didn't
come up with TomKat, so I think you'll have to come up with one on
your own. but people do keep asking me if I'm going to take Jerry's
last name. I've decided I'm just going to take the O: Rebecca O'Romijn.
Have you
two been chased by paparazzi? Once in a while we get followed.
We've actually ended up driving to Universal [Studios] and using Jerry's
pass to get into the lot just to lose these people. We sit there for
five minutes, then turn around and leave. We shoot Pepper Dennis at
Fox, so next timewe'll use my pass.
Is there
anything you can tell me about the wedding? Obviously, I've been
through it before. [Romijn is dovirced from Jon Stamos.] I had a big
wedding, and I dont think I want to do that again. It won't be a big,
over-the-top thing. It won't be fore anyone but ourselves.
You're
33; can we expect lots of little O'Romijns soon? I am now at the
point in my life when I see pregnant women, I get tears in my eyes.
I cna't wait to have kids with Jerry! I've never seen him in a bad
mood. He has so much energy. He's fun to be around all the time.

Rebecca
Romijn living in a brothel
NEW YORK
(AP) -- Rebecca Romijn is settling down with her fiance Jerry O'Connell
in an old brothel.
"It's
called Wagon Wheel Ranch," the star of the WB's "Pepper
Dennis" told Time for its issue on newsstands Monday. "Jerry
was quite a bachelor when we met. There was nowhere to put your cocktail
down in his place. Just the pingpong table."
O'Connell,
who stars on NBC's "Crossing Jordan," and Romijn share a
1930s home north of Los Angeles. He put in 800 grapevines last year,
and the couple plan to produce their own cabernet, Romijn told the
magazine.
The 33-year-old
actress, who plays a news reporter on "Pepper Dennis," offered
little news on their wedding plans, other than to say it's "definitely"
going to be this year.
Romijn, who
split from John Stamos in 2004, also stars in the upcoming film "X-Men:

Rebecca Romijn Recalls Falling For Jerry O'Connell
Rebecca Romijn
fell for her fiancé Jerry O'Connell after he agreed to help
her film a documentary in Las Vegas, Nevada. The actress was working
on a project researching the behind-the-scenes workings of the Bellagio
Hotel's elaborate water fountain show and convinced O'Connell to sign
up.
She explains,
"We'd met years ago at a party and then re-met again in Las Vegas
when I was at a party when I was about to start working on a documentary
with a friend of mine. We had this fantasy of choreographing the giant
fountains at the Bellagio Hotel. We actually did the fountain show
and it's in permanent rotation and plays four times a day. Jerry overheard
us talking about it when we were in Vegas and said, 'Can I be your
boom operator on the movie?'"
O'Connell
joined the documentary crew a week later and worked the large sound
microphone during the shoot. She adds, "He worked with us for
10 days on this documentary and that's how we met. We made him wear
a half-shirt, so every time he would hold the microphone up, his shirt
would come up (to the top of his chest) and he was so game I was like,
'You're cool!' It was funny."

ROMIJN
ROLE PLAYS WITH O'CONNELL
X-MEN star REBECCA ROMIJN and fiance JERRY O'CONNELL frequently dress
up as goofy characters and go out in public places as a joke. The
couple dress up in outrageous costumes, complete with special hair
and make-up. She explains, "We're not nightclub people, our idea
of fun is getting dressed up. "I have a costume closet at home.
Part of it is like daring each other to go out in public dressed like
that." The couple were addicted to US reality series SHOWDOG
MOMS AND DADS and became obsessed with one of the couples on the show.
She adds, "Showdog Moms and Dads is like (the movie ) BEST IN
SHOW, but with these very overzealous dog owners. "There was
one couple in particular we were inspired by and Jerry and I decided
to dress up like them and go to Wal Mart Portrait Studio and have
our portrait taken. That's our idea of fun."

'X'-person
Rebecca Romijn lands in a prime-time comedy.
April 10,

She's learned
to guard her privacy, especially since she's engaged to another actor,
Jerry O'Connell. "I'd like to talk about Jerry all day long,
but I just can't. It's too private," she says. Still, she can't
help herself from divulging a few sweet details. For instance, when
he's on hiatus from "Crossing Jordan," O'Connell drives
her to and from work every day. "It's an extra hour or two that
we get to spend together," she says. "We run lines and bounce
ideas off each other. And it's really fun." Carpooling with Rebecca
and Jerry—that's what passes for excitement when you're working 18-hour
days on a new show. "I've already gotten the speech from Jerry
where he's, like, 'You have to be able to go out to dinner and have
a glass of wine and get your mind off 'Pepper Dennis'," she says.
After all, variety, not pepper, is the spice of life.
IN
STYLE MAGAZINE
4/8/06
The April
2006 issue of In Style features an article with Rebecca Romijn. In it,
she opens up about her relationship with Jerry. Here are some notable
excerpts:
Romijn's
idea of serenity in Calabasas, Calif., is a cross between a Swiss
chalet and a frontier cottage. Or, as her future father-in-law once
dryly observed, the inside of a cuckoo clock. "I thought to myself,
Is that an insult?"
"I don't
have to tell you how absolutely beautiful Rebecca is," says her
besotted fiancé, Jerry O'Connell, "but what I really love
about her is that she's a character."
Romijn appears
as the brassy wife of a Hollywood talent agent (Ben Affleck) who's
trying to get back into his good graces after dallying with another
man. "Affleck and I teased her all day long, and she just teased
back," adds the director. "There's nothing precious about
her." Says O'Connell, who also appears in The Alibi, "She's
the most entertaining person I've ever met."
Rebecca wants
to have fun no matter what she does," says her fiancé,
Jerry O'Connell.
In the summer
of 2004 Romijn flew to Las Vegas to produce a project of her own,
a documentary titled Wet Dreams about the slipper challenges of choreographing
the fountains at the Bellagio hotel (an insanity -- as opposed do
a vanity-- project, you might say). It was there she reconnected with
O'Connell, whom she had met at a party a few years earlier. The Crossing
Jordan actor, already smitten, volunteered his services on the documentary.
"I'd have done a lot crazier things to have spent more time with
her," he says. 'If she had asked me to paint her house, I would
have said yes." From Romijn's veiwpoint, it was an ideal way
to test the waters of their mutual attraction. "There was a group
of us, and we all went out together to shows at night -- it was great.
Jerry is gorgeous, crazy funny and extremely charismatic."
If Stamos
once cheekily dubber her Rebecca Remain-Silent for her chartterbox
ways, in O'Connell she has found someone who appreciates a gabfest
as much as she does. The garrulous couple share a perpetual effervescence
and zany elan. Whether trysting at quirky hotels like the Madonna
Inn on California's Central Coast, or skipping to the DMV to renew
a license, they do it with a blithe spirit. Last summer, back from
a decadent wine country jaunt, they added 800 vines of merlot and
cabernet grapes to their expansive ranch, with its lemon grove and
hundreds of oak trees. "We're vinters!" Romijn says excitedly.
"The vineyard was a gift from Jerry. It was the most romantic
gift ever."
Their union
is a meeting of two coasts: The urbane O'Connell is a native New Yorker
("When I think of wilderness I think of Washington Square Park,"
he deadpans), while Romijn is the classic outdoorsy California girl.
"It's been really fun showing him California, "Romijn says,
adding that they're still deliberating over the location of their
upcoming wedding. While they got engaged at his parents' Manhattan
apartment, the wedding will most likely take place in her home state.
What is certain is that it will be a much less lavish affair than
her first one, in 1998, complete with an ivory gazar-and-Chantilly-lace
Badgley Mischka gown. "It was big, and I don't need to do that
again. It's completely different now -- we're not doing this for anybody
but ourselves." And though she scoffs at rumors that she's pregnant,
Romijn says she's ready for kids.
WEIGHTY ISSUES:
O'Connell doesn't understand the fuss: "I never saw her as being
overweight, and I feel like she's too skinny right now."
